Cardiac markers (Troponin, CK-MB, Myoglobin) are molecules released when the heart is damaged or stressed. Measurement of these markers is used to aid in diagnosing acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and cardiac ischemia, which are associated with insufficient blood supply to the heart.
