One Step Drug Test Card – Product Code: SC-0036-25
The Benzodiazepine Rapid Screen 1 Test (Urine) is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the detection of Oxazepam (main metabolite) in the urine at a threshold-limit concentration of 300ng/ml. This test will detect other related compounds, please refer to the Analytical Specificity table in this package insert. Benzodiazepines are drugs frequently prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of anxiety and sleep disorders. They produce their effects through specific receptors involving a neurochemical called gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA). Due to their increased safety and efficacy, benzodiazepines have replaced barbiturates in the treatment of anxiety and insomnia. Benzodiazepines are also used as sedatives before surgery and medical procedures and for the treatment of seizures and alcohol withdrawal. The risk of physical dependence increases if benzodiazepines are taken regularly (e.g. daily) for several months, especially in higher than normal doses. Stopping taking it suddenly can lead to symptoms such as sleep problems, gastrointestinal disorders, malaise, loss of appetite, sweating, tremor, weakness, anxiety and alterations in perception. Only some traces (less than 1%) of benzodiazepines are excreted unchanged in the urine; most of the concentration in urine is conjugated drug. The detection period of benzodiazepines in urine is 3-7 days. The BZO test (Urine) is a rapid screening test that can be performed without the use of instrumentation. The test uses an antibody to selectively detect high levels of benzodiazepines in the urine. The BZO (Urine) test indicates positive results when the benzodiazepine concentration in the urine exceeds the cut-off level. (The 120ml urine container is supplied separately, you can buy it on the “Accessories” page).
